Operation

To set the filter up, simply attach the pre-filter to either end of the softener. Attach the 4-foot hook up hose from your water source to the pre-filter. Attach your own hose to the other end of the softener.

To re-charge the filter, simply back flush (opposite direction of regular flow) with water softener salt. By doing so the substances that cause spotting release themselves from the resin beads and flush away. To accomplish this, simply remove the carbon cartridge from the pre-filter and replace with pure pelletized water softener salt pellets. Attach the pre-filter in an upright position on the opposite end of the softener. Hook the 4-foot hose from your water source to the pre-filter. Simply flush until the salt cubes dissolve and rinse away, (approximately 5 minutes for the standard size/10 minutes for the mega size), allowing the water to flow out the open end of the filter. After the salt is dissolved, rinse an additional minute before the carbon cartridge is replaced. Periodic replacement of the carbon cartridge is recommended. When re-charging the standard size use one pre-filter full of salt. Mega size requires two.

It is now re-charged at 100% efficiency. This process can be repeated indefinitely. With proper care and re-chargings the Stainless water filter/softener system will last for years. Your first supply of salt pellets is included. Additional salt pellets can be purchased through us or at any home hardware stores. The cost of the re-charging process is about 25 cents.

The filter can be easily stored on board your boat or RV, for convenience while traveling to other ports or destinations. Off-season storage can be accomplished by simply disconnecting the filter and standing it up vertically until the water drains. It is now ready to be stored without risk of freezing. At the start of next season, we recommend you re-charge the filter for start-up.
